What's On

We run study groups throughout the year. If you’re interested in joining a session, please visit the Learning Support office in Mary Bennett House or email Mrs Slaughter.

You don’t need to contact us in advance to attend a ‘Drop-in’ clinic, just turn up.

Getting into Reading

Stories and powerful writing do make a difference, but many people take for granted that to ‘get into a book’ you need to be a confident reader.  What happens if the act of reading is a constant annoyance, stopping you from easily following and enjoying the story?  Don’t give up just yet. Here are some ideas to help you find your own way into a book. Head to the Library and ask Mr Humphreys or Miss Handley for more information about the following:

  • Audiobooks
  • Graphic Novels
  • Large Print Books
  • Abridged Versions
  • The Barrington Stoke series

Also, take a look at our Book Guides.  We’ve kept things simple so it’s straightforward to pick a book and give it a go.
