Hockey Programme at Surbiton High School
At Surbiton High School, our hockey programme is reaching new heights with the ultimate goal of fostering a lifelong love for sport. We aim for our pupils to continue playing hockey after they leave school, whether at university, in club hockey, or at an international level. This ongoing engagement is how we define our success.
Central to our programme is the choice we offer students, empowering them to decide their level of participation. We support each student’s journey with tailored programmes in a fun, competitive and immersive team environment.
Participation and Performance
We pride ourselves on offering a nationally competitive environment that perfectly balances academics with top-level sports while also providing a fun and engaging programme for players of all ages and standards. This approach helps our students become well-rounded, multi-skilled student-athletes. We aim to make participation easy and enjoyable by offering a wide range of activities that are accessible without being overwhelming. By minimising scheduling conflicts and maximising enjoyment, we keep our students engaged and enthusiastic. Regular Saturday morning fixtures are a staple in the lower school, during the Autumn term, tapering off as students grow older to accommodate their club hockey commitments and manage their pitch time, ensuring their overall wellbeing.
