The Duke of Edinburgh award is the leading award for young people, not just in the UK, but with DofE International across the world. It requires every participant to commit to developing four aspects of their lives and for Gold participants the addition of a fifth aspect.
These aspects are physical, skill, volunteering, expedition and for Gold participants, a social aspect through the DofE residential.
The award is certainly not a turn-up and pass. Participants dedicate at least an hour a week to each section across gradually increasing time-frames. There are three levels to the award: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Click below to find out more about each of the levels.
