For these photographs I looked at the work of Bill Brandt who captures segments of the body with dramatic contrasts between highlights and shadows. I liked the anonymous intimacy of his photographs focused on bare legs, as they show close ups of the skin but keep the subject distant through the lack of recognisable features. His photographs make the skin seem very smooth and unmarked which I tried to recreate in my interpretation. The lighting he uses is natural and delicate. The scarcity of harsh electric lights gives a soft feel to the work.
